About Us

The Hotwells and District Allotments Association (HwDAA) is a Co-operative Society set up over 100 year ago. We now manage six allotment sites across the BS3 area. We are one of the largest independent Allotment Associations in Bristol and have over 570 plots which we let to Bristol residents who want to grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers, care for the soil and support and encourage wildlife.

HwDAA is entirely run by volunteers. In addition to an elected committee, at least 20 additional volunteers help to clear plots, run the shop, mend sheds, produce a newsletter, run our website, survey the wildlife, support neighbouring tenants, maintain the sites and much, much more.

Our shop, on our largest site, Alderman Moore’s in Ashton Vale, is open 10.30-12 each Saturday and Sunday providing tenants with good value seeds, seasonal seed potatoes and onion sets, netting, compost, a range of tools and other items useful for all allotmenters.

If you are interested in having a plot, you may wish to look at the location of our sites to find one nearest to where you live before you apply.
